Fundraising for charity

Daffodil Weekend is all about raising funds for local charities and community projects. We have raised more than £500,000 over the last 51 years.

Nominated charity

Each year, local charities within 30 miles of Thriplow are invited to apply to become the Daffodil Weekend Trust nominated charity for the coming weekend. The chosen charity receives a percentage of the net profit from the weekend.

As the last DW was cancelled due to Covid three weeks before the event, we will be picking up where we left off with our very worthwhile nominated charities of 2020: Royal Papworth Charity and East Anglian Air Ambulance.

Parish of thriplow community grants

Charitable bodies within the civil parish of Thriplow are also invited to apply for grants for specific projects they require funding for. The deadline for grant applications is 28th February 2022.

Parish Youth Award for Good Citizenship

This award exists to encourage good citizenship by recognising members of the village under the age of 21 years who participate in projects which directly provide benefits for others, or their environment, particularly those less privileged, either locally, nationally or internationally.

The queen's award for voluntary service 2011

The tireless work of the village was recognised in 2011 when the Committee received The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service (the equivalent of an MBE for charities).
